William Ives Consulting upgraded the firm from the ground up including Storage (HP SANs), Infrastructure (VMware), Operating systems (Windows 2003 to Windows 2012), and Core application (MS Exchange 2013, and MS SQL 2012).  Care was taken to add in a high level of availability and redundancy using both hardware level redundancy/high availability (Hardware load balancing, SAN replication, VMware SRM) as well as application level high availability/redundancy (SQL HA clusters, Citrix clustering with Netscaler, Exchange 2013 DAG).  The result is up to date servers running on optimized hardware with a high level of availability and the ability to failover in a choreographed, systemic way that ensures that the data is ready for the end user, no matter what situation arises.


Project: Datto Backup & Recovery

William Ives Consulting (WIC) deploys a true business continuity solution and saves law firm thousands.  This mid-size Raleigh law firm was managing their own local off-site data center populated with their own hardware which provided disaster recovery for their application servers, storage, switches, firewalls, etc…  WIC recommended the Datto Backup & Recovery Hybrid Cloud solution eliminating the local data center and passing significant savings onto the law firm.

This solution utilized Hybrid Cloud Technology to improve redundancy and allow users greater protection of their systems and data.  Hybrid Cloud continuity is simple in concept yet robust in feature set; it leverages the advantages of local backup and the security of the cloud.

It starts with servers protecting data locally across the network to the Datto appliance, from there the data is automatically transmitted to the secure Datto cloud.  This technology improves fault tolerance while reducing the reliance on bandwidth speed.  The local device acts as a restore hub for everything from files to application and system fail over, it also acts as a staging environment for offsite transfer.  Scheduling off-site data transfers can be critical for bandwidth management and carries no risk of having unsaved backups.  In addition, should the local device be compromised, data that was transferred to the Cloud can act as a replica site for the business.
